Paper Dolls For Bad Girls… 0

Posted on January 20, 2010 by DJC

INSADarlineMyDreamLifePaperDoll
My Dream Life Darlene paper doll by Insa. For Stacey.

This street-wise version of the paper doll by UK artist Insa comes with everything a hot girl made of paper needs to make all her dreams come true, like a glock, wads of cash, a 40 of malt liquor, some dope, a cupcake and a wedding dress. Because you never know when Mr. Right (or Mr. Right Now) is going to show up in his El Camino, roll down the window and ask you to be his forever woman. Even paper dolls need to be prepared for anything.

If you’re in LA, you can see the paper doll interpretations of over 40 different artists at The Timeless Paper Doll group show at FIFTY 24 Gallery.

TarantinnoGoldenGlobes2010
The Q walks the Golden Globes Red Carpet with Melanie Laurent, who played Shoshana, the Nazi killing theater owner in Inglourious Basterds.

Quentin Tarantino: What’s so funny Mel?

Melanie Laurent: I’m not laughing, I’m vamping. There’s a difference. Your Tux is ridicul…er, don’t be ridiculous.

Q: What did you just say?

Melanie: What? Sorry, did you say something Q?

Q: Did you just call my Tux ridiculous?

Melanie: Oh look, isn’t that Mira Sorvino?

Q: Really? Where? Hold on, does this Tux make me look fat?

Melanie: Oh NO. You look fantastic. Hahahahaha!

Q: What’s so funny now?

Melanie: Nothing Q. I always laugh when I’m nervous…or standing next to someone who likes to wear their elegant pajamas in public.

Q: Pajamas? I’ll have you know that this Tux is a perfect blend of East meets West couture made especially for me, Quentin Tarantino! ALRIGHT?

Melanie: Okay, Q. If I say I like your Tux, can I still play “Sexy Assailant 3″ in Kill Bill 3?

Q: No.

Melanie: Hahahaha! Your Tux is ridiculous! And I also thought Jackie Brown was a  trite piece of shit. Damn! I feel so much better.

Q: Wait, is that Pam Grier? Hey Pam, I want to introduce you to the soon-to-be-has-been actress, Melanie Laurent. ALRIGHT!?

Pam: Quentin, what the Bruce Lee hell are you wearing? Did someone die? Or did you just get back from your monthly visit to Kabukicho and simply didn’t have time to change?

Q: Nobody died, ALRIGHT? ALRIGHT!? Fuck! Where is Christina Hendricks and her enormous rack when you need them. Oh, wait. There they are

Eddie Money Did Twilight in 1982… 1

Posted on December 07, 2009 by DJC

Twilight the Movie (aka the video for I Think I’m in Love from 1982), by Eddie Money.

It’s nice to finally know that that when I said Eddie Money was totally ahead of his time 127 years ago (or in 1982 if you hate math like me), I was actually correct. Anyway, here’s Eddie confirming his greatness via his website – which should be considered breaking news if you still care about Eddie Money

Eddie Money never stops working and since James Brown passed away he’s now considered the hardest working man in show business.

Eddie Money who, from now on, on this blog shall be known as the “new Godfather of Soul“, has a gig in Sacramento on Thursday, December 10th.

More on Eddie here.

*Programming note: This post should not imply that the activities of Eddie Money (aka, the “new Godfather of Soul“) will be actively followed on this blog. However, they might be. Consider yourself apprised.*

Not So Merry Christmas: 316,000 Bongs Seized in LA… 0

s-CHRISTMAS-BONGS-large
Party at Homeland Security!

The bongs, worth approximately $2.6 million dollars (!) were not so cleverly disguised as Christmas ornaments.  As much as this news makes me want to go cuddle my own bong, it raises a more important concern. Instead of buying bongs from China, we should help support our own economy by purchasing only locally produced drug paraphernalia.

Dio Goes To The Dogs For a Good Cause… 0

I want YOU to care about animal rights! For Surly and LP.

Last Saturday, Ronnie James Dio, his wife Wendy and other volunteers from the Brittany Foundation helped raise about $20,000 for the LA based non-profit canine rescue.

To help raise awareness of what a day in the life of a rescue dog is like, Dio’s wife Wendy and 12 Brittany volunteers spent most of the day locked inside a dog kennels. Attendees to the fundraiser bid $1 a minute to get the volunteers out of their “kennels” for the day. Dio also spent time signing autographs and taking photos with fans, the proceeds of which also went to support Brittney. Said the 67 year old rocker:

It certainly shows the power of your fame but it also shows how people want to take part in the things people do that are good.

Behold the power of Rock ‘n’ Roll indeed…

Mickey Rourke out trick or treating in Hollywood last night.

If you read this blog, you might have noticed that is has been rather “Rourkeless” as of late. Well the dry spell is officially OVER! Mickey hit the town last night in Hollywood looking 100% less leathery than usual. I’m not real keen on Rourke’s wonky vag-stash, but I’ll give his mime ass a pass just for coming out to play for the paps last night. I don’t know about you, but my day is always a little bit better if there is a little Rourke in it. True story.

Absolut LA Is Coming Back As Absolut Berry… 0

Posted on September 22, 2009 by DJC

AbsolutLA
Absolut LA is BACK! Well, soon anyway. For Surly.

Good news booze hounds! Last week, a little drunk birdie told yours truly that Absolut will be re-releasing the limited edition Absolut LA in the next few months. Absolut LA was the second city inspired vodka (Absolut New Orleans being the first) by Absolut. The positive response to LA was so strong that Absolut decided to re-brand the elixir. With notes of pomegranate, blueberry, acacia and acerola berry, look for Absolut Berry to hit the shelves sometime in the new year, if not sooner. It’s a stand out on the rocks and an easy mixer.

Since I’m feeling generous today, you might want to start checking around your local package store for some Absolut LA. Recently, my local hooch-haven uncovered several cases of LA gathering up dust in their storage room. Much to my livers chagrin.

And while I’m jawing about the pleasures of cuckoo-juice, Look for the most recent Absolut city vodka, Absolut Boston to hit the shelves sometime in November in Seattle.

Cheers!
