Alexander McQueen Has Passed Away… 0

Posted on February 11, 2010 by DJC

mcqueen
Alexander McQueen, RIP.

Although details regarding the death of designer Alexander McQueen are limited, it’s rumored that McQueen hung himself.  McQueen’s untimely death comes less than a week after his own Mother’s passing.

Alexander McQueen’s impact on the world of fashion was nothing short of remarkable. The young Britt was known for his theatrical and envelope pushing fashion shows as well as his designs which many consider wearable works of art. Alexander McQueen was only 40 years old. His sudden passing is as shocking as it is sad.

RIP Alexander McQueen. You will be deeply missed.

GIVE THE PEOPLE WHAT THEY WANT!: The Kinks – The Movie… 1

Posted on December 04, 2009 by DJC

TheKinks
The Kinks. Nice shirt Dave…

Julien Temple has confirmed that he will direct a film about The Kinks with the tentative working title, “You Really Got Me”Temple says the movie will focus on the tumultuous relationship of Ray and Dave Davies. To this day the brothers barely speak to each other. In 2008 when Ray spoke publicly about the possibility of a Kinks reunion, Dave responded via Rolling Stone saying that the Kinks getting back together would be like a “poor remake of ‘Night of the Living Dead”.

So far Ray Davies is said to be on board and working with Temple on the films historical details. No release date yet but, for something that’s bound to be great, I can wait. In other Kinks news (yes, there’s more), Ray Davies will release a Holiday duet with Chrissie Hynde called Postcards from London on Monday, December 7th.

For Sale: One Bon Jovi Ticket – $300…? 0

Posted on October 29, 2009 by DJC

jon_bon_jovi
What in the name of Led Zeppelin? Floor tickets for Bon Jovi’s O2 residency selling for $300!

Now before you go blaming some greedy Peter Grant type promoter for this shocking ticket expenditure, don’t. And that’s because the members of Bon Jovi actually approve the ticket prices before they go on sale. Floor seats for Bon Jovi’s 2010 June Residency in London at O2, will tap your spandex ass for nearly $300 while other not so hair metal seats will run you between $60-$110 bucks. Which is also too much for Bon Jovi.

You Win Jeremy Scott… 0

Pixie Geldof, daughter of Bob Geldof, does the runway walk of shame in designer Jeremy Scott’s show during London Fashion Week.

Okay Jeremy Scott. I get it. You are as edgy as they come. Despite the fact that it’s likely that you drew inspiration for this show by smoking way too much pot and watching The Flintstones. Of course, if it turns out that wearing giant plastic bones in your hair or on on your shoes turns out to be the big trend for Spring/Summer 2010, I will eat my own hat.

Ron Wood Gets Twilight Treatment… 0

Posted on September 18, 2009 by DJC

ronnie-vampire-500x677
Ron Wood as a vampire by artist Paul Karslake.

Would it really surprise anyone if members of The Rolling Stones actually turned out to be vampires? As if. Anyway, artist Paul Karslake is the brother of Wood’s ex-wife Jo. He’s been painting portraits of members of The Rolling Stones for years as well as creating custom painted guitars for Wood. Karslake’s inky depiction of his ex-brother-in-law was a response to Wood who left Karslake’s 24 year marriage to his sister, for a 20 year old model. The painting was auctioned off for charity to the tune of $4,044 in July.

In other unsurprising news, the 62 year old Wood gave the heave-HO to his Russian girlfriend earlier this week telling her to “Fuck off home you slut”. How very rock ‘n’ roll Ronnie. Not.
