Sad news for Slayer fans today as drummer Dave Lombardo announced that the band has officially replaced him for their upcoming Australian tour. Says Lombardo:
So that you all know the truth, as of the end of the business day on February 14th, I was notified that I would not be drumming for the tour in Australia. I’m saddened, and to be honest I am shocked by the situation.
According to Classic Rock, Lombardo said that money issues seem to be a the core of his unexpected exit. Still, he remains optimistic that he and the band can “resolve their issues”. Not wasting any time, Slayer says Lombardo’s replacement will be Joe Dette (who you might remember has played with the band before, as well as Testament). In addition to Lombardo’s absence, Gary Holt will fill the shoes of Slayer guitarist, Jeff Hanneman, who is still out of commission recovering from a spider bite that almost killed him.
