<p>The second studio release from <a title="Nick Cave" href="http://www.nick-cave.com/"><strong>Nick Cave&#8217;s</strong></a> <strong>Grinderman</strong>, <a title="Grinderman on Myspace" href="http://www.myspace.com/grinderman"><strong>Grinderman 2</strong></a>, is due out in the <strong>U.S.</strong> on <strong>September 14th</strong> <em>(UK on September 13th)</em>. The word currently grinding through the Internets is that <strong>Cave</strong> will once again tour the <strong>U.S. </strong>with the second coming of <strong>Grinderman</strong>. No dates yet so, stay tuned.</p>
<p>On <strong>June 24th,</strong> <strong>Cave</strong> will be honored with a <strong>Doctor of Laws</strong> degree from the <strong>University of Dundee</strong>. In addition to speaking at the ceremony, <strong>Cave</strong> will also be reading from his second novel that got him <a title="Nick Cave up for Bad Sex Award - Cherrybombed.com" href="http://www.cherrybombed.com/2009/11/nick-cave-up-for-bad-sex-award/">nominated for the <em>&#8220;Bad Sex in Literature&#8221;</em> award</a> in <strong>2009</strong>, <a title="The Death of Bunny Munro - Amazon" href="http://www.amazon.com/Death-Bunny-Munro-Nick-Cave/dp/0865479100">The Death of Bunny Munro</a>. For me, every time I hear <strong>Mykonos</strong> from the Foxes <a title="Sun Giant EP - Fleet Foxes - Amazon.com" href="http://www.amazon.com/s?ie=UTF8&amp;keywords=The%20Whore%20Moans%20Hello%20from%20the%20Radio%20Wasteland&amp;search-type=ss&amp;index=music&amp;page=1"><strong>Sun Giant EP</strong></a>, I get the chills. The <strong>Fleet Foxes</strong> are currently riding high down under in <strong>Australia</strong> for a series of mostly sold-out shows. Take that Nickelback&#8230;</p>

I don&#8217;t often make musical recommendations for Sunday. Sunday should be reserved for Bloody Marys, annoymous/make-up sex and eggs. Exactly in that order. All of which should still allow you time to make <strong>Monotonix&#8217;s</strong> set that will occur between <strong>2:00</strong> &amp; <strong>4:00 </strong>at <strong>Sunday Bloody Sunset</strong> at <strong>The Sunset</strong>. The <strong>Raggedy Anns </strong>play the late show. Unless of course, you are hitting the <a title="Cialis - Me Love You Long Time" href="http://www.cialis.com/index.jsp">Cialis</a> like <a title="Josh Todd Rocks Cialis, Love Fruit Loops - Blabbermouth.net" href="http://www.roadrunnerrecords.com/BlabberMouth.Net/news.aspx?mode=Article&amp;newsitemID=105385">Josh Todd</a>. <p>Cherrybomb got up close and personal with <strong>Nick Cave and the Bad Seeds</strong> last night at the <strong>Showbox, SoDo</strong> in <strong>Seattle</strong>. Cave delivered a performance not unlike a fervent preacher might deliver Sunday Mass to a church full of Saturday night sinners. Of course, when <strong>Nick Cave</strong> gets up on the pulpit, the sermon is laced with profanity, stories about <strong>Lazarus</strong> and <strong>Leviticus</strong>, and the refusal to repent after confessing to a getting a hard-on, in the name of love.<strong> </strong>Now that&#8217;s the kind of preaching that would get even Cherrybomb herself to church. <strong>Cave</strong> masterfully worked his way through his new <strong>Bad Seed&#8217;s</strong> release, <a title="Dig!!! Lazarus, DIG!!! - Amazon.com" href="http://www.amazon.com/Dig-Lazarus-Nick-Cave-Seeds/dp/B0012CJ9IO"><strong>Dig!!! Lazarus, DIG!!!</strong></a> as well as plenty of vintage material like <em>Stagger Lee</em>, from <strong>1996&#8217;s</strong> <a title="Murder Ball" href="http://www.amazon.com/Murder-Ballads-Nick-Cave-Seeds/dp/B000002N5S/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&amp;s=music&amp;qid=1222282003&amp;sr=1-1"><strong>Murder Ballads</strong></a>, <em>Get Ready for Love</em> from <strong>2004&#8217;s </strong><a title="Abattoir Blues - Amazon.com" href="http://www.amazon.com/Abattoir-Blues-Lyre-Orpheus-Seeds/dp/B0002SROSQ">Abattoir Blues</a>, and my personal show highlight,<em> Hard on for Love</em> from <strong>1986&#8217;s <a title="Your Funeral, My Trial - Amazon.com" href="http://www.amazon.com/Your-Funeral-My-Trial-Nick-Seeds/dp/B00004UB33/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&amp;s=music&amp;qid=1222282098&amp;sr=1-1">Your Funeral&#8230;My Trial</a></strong><a title="Your Funeral, My Trial - Amazon.com" href="http://www.amazon.com/Your-Funeral-My-Trial-Nick-Seeds/dp/B00004UB33/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&amp;s=music&amp;qid=1222282098&amp;sr=1-1">.</a> <em>(sorry folks, I was dreamin&#8217; when I said Nick played Green Eyes, Nick will do that to you.)</em></p>
<p>If you don&#8217;t have tickets for tonight, as of this writing, there are still a few listed on <a title="Nick Cave Tickets - Craig's List Seattle" href="http://seattle.craigslist.org/search/sss?query=nick%20cave">Craig&#8217;s List</a>.</p>
<p>If you do head out to <strong>SoDo</strong> tonight, I feel obligated to give you a heads up about the venue. More so, about some of the Security staff that work at <strong>Showbox SoDo</strong>, than the venue itself. It&#8217;s something I like to call:</p>
<p style="text-align: center;"><span style="text-decoration: underline;"><strong>What the fuck is up with the Security staff at The Showbox in SoDo&#8230;???</strong></span></p>
<p>From the minute I stepped inside the venue both myself and my handsome companion were hassled by a bouncer at the door. And when I say hassled, I mean yelled at for <em>not</em> moving fast enough up the empty stairs, into the uncrowded lounge. Not once but <em>twice</em>. When someone yells at me to <em><strong>&#8220;KEEP MOVING&#8221;</strong></em> there better be a fucking fire. Or a crowd. There were neither. Anyway, about <strong>30</strong> minutes later, I met two foxy members of Team Cherrybomb at the door so I could give them their tickets. The same bouncer was now yelling at some 50-something guy about the bag he was carrying as if he was working for <strong>Homeland Security</strong> saying loudly, <em>&#8220;if there is something in this bag that hurts me there is gonna be trouble.&#8221;</em>, followed by the standard <em>&#8220;DO YOU UNDERSTAND ME?&#8221;</em>. According to my foxy duo, this tirade kept the line to get in, outside for around <strong>10</strong> minutes. I&#8217;m telling you, this guy looked about as dangerous as a box of wet matches. He was soft-spoken and not at any time belligerent or combative.</p>
<p>The final blow of over-zealous-SoDo-security-terrorism came about six songs deep into <strong>Cave&#8217;s</strong> set. Cherrybomb&#8217;s Ace, <strong>The Mad Irish Man</strong> <em>(who isn&#8217;t really angry, just mad. There&#8217;s a difference.)</em>, was bounced out for a <strong>&#8220;Code 3&#8243;</strong> violation. A <strong>Code 3</strong> equates <em>&#8220;fighting&#8221; </em>in the world of bouncing. Which was complete bullshit. The entire time,<strong> Irish</strong> was a couple of arm-lengths from me <em>(and about 10 feet from the stage)</em>. He was rockin&#8217; and swaying with a crowd of like-minded revelers, truly in the moment. Nobody was pushing, nobody was complaining and for sure, nobody was perpetrating a <strong>Code 3</strong>. There were no less than four bouncers to my left who were sharply hawking the group that my<strong> Irish</strong> friend was in. Then, suddenly, two of the<strong> LAPD</strong> officers in training, pushed their way into the crowd, grabbed <strong>Irish</strong> by the shirt and ejected him without a warning or explanation. <strong>Irish</strong> was later told about his supposed <strong>Code 3</strong> by a friend of his who also works the door, which really made him pretty fucked-off about the whole situation. And rightfully so. Anyway, my recollection of the<em> &#8220;situation&#8221;</em> is crystal, as for a change I was remarkably sober last night. If you&#8217;re going to <strong>SoDo </strong>toinght my advice to you is, have a good time, but don&#8217;t have too much of a good time. Or you&#8217;ll be out on the street.</p>

<em>Don&#8217;t fall asleep Nick Cave, the cowboy from The Village People might eat you. </em></p>
<p><strong>Cave</strong>: At one particular low point of his heroin addiction, <strong>Cave</strong> wrote lyrics with a bloody syringe while traveling on the London Underground. Later, <strong>Cave </strong>resorted to dealing heroin and was subsequently thrown out of his room in a shared apartment when it became a shooting gallery.</p>
<p><img class="alignnone size-full wp-image-1867" title="joanjettsmile" src="http://www.cherrybombed.com/wp-content/uploads/2008/09/joanjettsmile.jpg" alt="" width="324" height="324" /><br />
<em>Joan Jett turns 50 today. Despite this news, Joan Jett is not grouchy. Yet. </em></p>
<p><strong>Jett</strong>: Joan Jett has lived a pretty clean life when it comes to the likes of drugs and alcohol. Which is pretty remarkable given the history of <a title="Edgeplay - The Runaways Documentary - IMDB.com" href="http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0216731/"><strong>The Runaways</strong></a>. The only thing I can say about <strong>Joan Jett</strong> (when it comes to this category) is that she&#8217;s grouchy. Really grouchy. I&#8217;ve seen<strong> Jett</strong> live a few times, and personally, I think she might benefit by some sort of recreational drug interjection. The last time I saw <strong>JJ</strong>, she spent the majority of the <strong>60 </strong>minute set complaining about the sound and her band, often stopping songs mid-stream to complain into her mike. It&#8217;s the only show I&#8217;ve ever walked out of in my life. Grouchy!</p>
<p><em><strong>Advantage</strong></em>: Cave. The only time I like grouches is when I&#8217;m stoned and they are talking to me from a trash can on TV.</p>
<p><strong>Cooler Tattoo Homage:</strong></p>
<p><img class="alignnone size-full wp-image-1856" title="nickcavearmslyricstattoo" src="http://www.cherrybombed.com/wp-content/uploads/2008/09/nickcavearmslyricstattoo.jpg" alt="" width="432" height="275" /><br />
<em>Peaches Geldof&#8217;s tattooed homage to Nick Cave&#8217;s &#8220;Into My Arms&#8221;.</em></p>
<p><strong>Bob Geldof&#8217;s</strong> hot-mess daughter, <a title="Peachs Geldof OD's - Back partying the next day " href="http://celebrities.ninemsn.com.au/blog.aspx?blogentryid=157924&amp;showcomments=true">Peaches</a> had the lyrics of <strong>Cave&#8217;s </strong>masterful love song, <a title="Into My Arms - Amazon.com" href="http://www.amazon.com/Into-Arms-Nick-Cave-Seeds/dp/B000006XI8"><em>Into My Arms</em></a>, tattooed on her back. Apparently, <strong>Peaches</strong>&#8216; then boyfriend, <strong>Faris Rotter</strong> of the <strong>UK</strong> band <a title="The Horrors" href="http://www.thehorrors.co.uk/">The Horrors</a>, is a big <strong>Nick Cave </strong>fan. So much so, that <strong>Rotter</strong> has been accused of ripping on <strong>Cave&#8217;s</strong> unique sound. But that&#8217;s another story.</p>
<p><img class="alignnone size-full wp-image-1857" title="joanjettautographtattoo" src="http://www.cherrybombed.com/wp-content/uploads/2008/09/joanjettautographtattoo.jpg" alt="" width="375" height="500" /><br />
<em>Joan Jett Autograph Tattoo. Hey, at least she&#8217;s wearing panties.</em></p>
<p>There are loads of people who get <a title="Autograph Tattoo Girl - YIKES - TMZ.com" href="http://esserel.inforoflovegirls.comandwww.tmz.com/2007/11/22/autograph-hound-goes-too-far/">celebrity autographs tattooed on their bodies</a>. In many cases, the ink-job  of your celebrity soulmate&#8217;s face comes before you get their accompanying autograph engraved on your thigh. We should all be thankful that <strong>Joan&#8217;s #1</strong> fan, above, went with <em>Jett&#8217;s</em> John Hancock only. Although, <strong>Joan Jett </strong>looking at you while you&#8217;re going downtown might be sexy. If you&#8217;re a freak that is. You freak.</p>
<p><em><strong>Advantage</strong></em>: Cave.<strong> </strong>I never want to see that <strong>Joan Jett </strong>tattoo again.</p>
<p><strong>Better Former Paramour:</strong></p>
<p><img class="alignnone size-full wp-image-1868" title="nickandpj" src="http://www.cherrybombed.com/wp-content/uploads/2008/09/nickandpj.jpg" alt="" width="467" height="310" /><br />
<em>Nick and PJ enjoy a post-coital ciggy. </em></p>
<p><strong>Cave</strong>: PJ Harvey<br />
When <strong>Nick Cave</strong> recruited<strong> PJ Harvey</strong> to sing the duet, <em><a title="Henry Lee - Nick Cave and PJ Harvey - Amazon.com" href="http://www.amazon.com/Henry-Lee-Nick-Cave-Seeds/dp/B00004WSB6">Henry Lee</a></em>, on his <a title="Murder Ballads - Amazon.com" href="http://www.amazon.com/Murder-Ballads-Nick-Cave-Seeds/dp/B000002N5S/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&amp;s=music&amp;qid=1222133089&amp;sr=1-1">Murder Ballads</a> record, they eneded up getting it on. Which seems about right given <strong>Cave&#8217;s</strong> affinity for raven-haired, pale skinned chicks. Much to Cherrybomb&#8217;s chagrin.</p>
<p><img class="alignnone size-full wp-image-1866" title="joanandcarmen" src="http://www.cherrybombed.com/wp-content/uploads/2008/09/joanandcarmen.jpg" alt="" width="494" height="580" /><br />
<em>Joan Jett and Carmen Electra are just friends. With benefits.</em></p>
<p><strong>Jett</strong>: Carmen Electra<br />
After <strong>Carmen Electra&#8217;s</strong> divorce from <strong>Dave Navarro </strong>in <strong>2006</strong>, it&#8217;s rumored that she got busy Jett, her long-time friend.</p>
<p><em><strong>Advantage</strong></em>: Jett. Even I&#8217;ve often wanted to be <strong>PJ Harvey</strong>, but I would totally do<strong> Carmen Electra.</strong> And so would you. Don&#8217;t lie. You&#8217;re probably doing something looking at this photo right now.</p>
<p><strong>Better Hair: The Then and Now Edition:</strong></p>
<p><img class="alignnone size-full wp-image-1859" title="joanjetthairthen" src="http://www.cherrybombed.com/wp-content/uploads/2008/09/joanjetthairthen.jpg" alt="" width="352" height="441" /><br />
<em>Joan Jett and her Aqua Net special circa 1980ish. </em></p>
<p><strong>Joan&#8217;s</strong> looking a little more like <a title="Happy Birthday Little Runaways - Lita and Joan Also Share Birthdays - Cherrybombed.com" href="http://www.cherrybombed.com/2007/09/happy-birthday-little-runaways/"><strong>Lita Ford</strong></a> in the photo above. Which is why she probably cut her hair off in the first place.</p>
<p><img class="alignnone size-full wp-image-1860" title="joanjetthairnow" src="http://www.cherrybombed.com/wp-content/uploads/2008/09/joanjetthairnow.jpg" alt="" width="382" height="586" /><br />
<em>Joan Jett now at the 2008 Rock and Roll Hall of Fame Induction Ceremony.</em></p>
<p><strong>Joan&#8217;s </strong>back to black again after her recent stint as a blond. Her face looks as tight as her awesome abs these days. But I digress away from whatever it is on top of<strong> Joan Jett&#8217;s</strong> head in the photo above. Let&#8217;s just call it hair, shall we?</p>
<p><img class="alignnone size-full wp-image-1861" title="nickcavehairthen" src="http://www.cherrybombed.com/wp-content/uploads/2008/09/nickcavehairthen.jpg" alt="" /><br />
<em>Nick Cave forgot to brush his hair. For like a year. </em></p>
<p><strong>Nick Cave</strong> is always changing his hair. Whether it&#8217;s the hair on his face or his head.</p>
<p><img class="alignnone size-full wp-image-1862" title="nickcavehairnow" src="http://www.cherrybombed.com/wp-content/uploads/2008/09/nickcavehairnow.jpg" alt="" width="300" height="300" /><br />
<em>Nick Cave at the MOJO Awards, 2008.</em></p>
<p>In the words of <strong>Warren Zevon</strong>, Nick&#8217;s hair is perfect.</p>
<p><strong>Advantage</strong>: Cave.</p>
<p>Are you surprised that this <strong>Cherrybomb Birthday Brawl</strong> goes to <strong>Mr. No Pussy Blues, Nick Cave</strong>? Well, are you? Because I was totally expecting a Jett shut-out on this one. Anyway, grumpy jabs aside, I love<strong> Joan</strong>. I guess what it comes down to is this, just like a very good-looking friend of Cherrybomb, I was always more of a <em><a title="LIta Ford - Out For Blood - Youtube" href="http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=q1FU6xVEWBQ"><strong>Lita</strong></a> </em>girl. That and <strong>Nick Cave</strong> rules.</p>
<p>Who will be next in the <a title="Henry Rollins vs Peter Gabriel - Cherrybomb's Birthday Brawl" href="http://www.cherrybombed.com/2008/02/birthday-brawl-henry-rollins-vs-peter-gabriel/"><strong>Cherrybomb Birthday Brawl</strong></a>? Actually, I don&#8217;t know right now. I&#8217;m recovering from a nasty cold and I&#8217;m all hopped on <strong>Nyquil</strong> and <strong>coke</strong>. Which is really not as tasty as it sounds.</p>

<em>Plasmatics Fan Club mailer, 1982. </em></p>
<p>Have you been asking yourself lately if someone you love has been brainwashed into submission? I know I have. Why? I&#8217;ll tell you. When I was driving down <strong>I-5 </strong>today I ended up behind a sweet little powder-blue, <a title="'65 Mustang" href="http://www.thehenryford.org/exhibits/showroom/1965/mustang.html"><strong>1965 Mustang</strong></a>. Even in traffic, it&#8217;s always exciting to get close to any <strong>Mustang</strong> between the years of <strong>1965 &#8211; 1973</strong>. The little number in front of me was also being driven by a chick, which, despite my initial pang of jealously, made me smile. Until I got close enough to see the two bumper stickers on her car. The first one had <a title="The Real Dino Rossi" href="http://www.dinorossiforgovernorwa.com/"><strong>Dino Rossi&#8217;s</strong></a> name on it. The other one said that<em> &#8220;<strong>life begins at conception&#8221;</strong></em>. Then there was the small white cowboy hat hanging from her rear view mirror. I loved that <strong>Mustang</strong>. I gave that <strong>Mustang</strong> the best <strong>10 minutes </strong>of my life when I was stuck behind it today. I mean, what kind of person puts bumper stickers on a <strong>&#8216;69 Mustang</strong>?</p>
<p>Well, now you know.  And so do I.</p>

Two of my favorite bands on one bill at what is easily, the greatest club in the City of Seattle. Come out and see what happens when <strong>twang</strong> and <strong>dry ice</strong> collide. Here&#8217;s a hint: what happens is completely awesome.</p>

I got thrown out of a <strong>Flock of Seagulls </strong>show once. Did I tell you that already? No? Really? That&#8217;s weird. That&#8217;s usually the first thing I tell people. Anyway, everything happens for a reason. Especially when it comes to <strong>A Flock of Seagulls</strong>. Whatever that means.</p>

The Sunset<br />
</strong>On <strong>Thursday, September 25th</strong>, Seattle band <strong>Jodie Watts</strong> will play their first gig in three years. <strong>Jodie Watts</strong> was the first local band I saw after moving to Seattle in <strong>1999.</strong> The show was at <a title="I miss the Sit 'n' Spin" href="http://www.yelp.com/biz/sit-and-spin-seattle">The Sit &#8216;n&#8217; Spin</a> and the bartender turned out to be an old friend. I can&#8217;t tell you how much that show warmed my cold, East Coast rock &#8216;n&#8217; roll heart. Almost <strong>10</strong> years later, that night still ranks high up on Cherrybomb&#8217;s &#8220;good time&#8221; list. And, since I love to have a good time, it just makes sense that you should be at <strong>The Sunset on Thursday, September 25th</strong>.</p>
<p><em><em><strong><img class="alignnone size-full wp-image-1849" title="monotonix" src="http://www.cherrybombed.com/wp-content/uploads/2008/09/monotonix.jpg" alt="" width="500" height="375" /><br />

<p><strong><a title="Monotonix" href="http://www.monotonix.com/">Monotonix</a> </strong>will be at The Comet Tavern on <strong>Satuday, September 27th</strong>. Did you get shut-out of <strong>Monotonix&#8217;s</strong> show at Bumbershoot earlier this month? <strong>The Comet</strong> is mosh-friendly. Trust me.</p>
<p><em><em><strong><em><img class="alignnone size-full wp-image-1850" title="thesaturdayknights" src="http://www.cherrybombed.com/wp-content/uploads/2008/09/thesaturdayknights.jpg" alt="" width="500" height="375" /><br />

<p><strong><a title="The Saturday Knights" href="http://thesaturdayknights.com/">The Saturday Knights</a> </strong>are at <strong>Neumo&#8217;s</strong> on <strong>Thursday October 16th</strong>. Just like their last record, TSK&#8217;s new record is really, really good.</p>
<p>So there you have it. This week&#8217;s Get The Fuck Out is, well, out. And you should be too.</p>

<em>Jason D&#8217;Aquino, Dr. Gonzo. Graphite on Matchbook.</em></p>
<p><strong>Jason D&#8217;Aquino</strong> is a <strong>Miniaturist</strong> out of <strong>Brooklyn</strong>. Among his Mother, <strong>D&#8217;Aquino</strong> credits <a title="Maurice Sendak - Amazon.com" href="http://www.amazon.com/Where-Wild-Things-Maurice-Sendak/dp/0060254920">Maurice Sendak</a> as a source of inspiration for his art. <strong>D&#8217;Aquino</strong> uses <a title="Jason DAquino - Matchbook Minature Art - JasonDAquino.com" href="http://www.jasondaquino.com/home.html">vintage matchbooks</a> or in the case of <strong>D&#8217;Aquino&#8217;s</strong> series, <em>&#8220;<a title="Jason DAquino - Plumbing - JasonDAquino.com" href="http://www.jasondaquino.com/home.html">Plumbing&#8221;</a>, </em> paper from a vintage Plumbing catalog to create his miniature art. There&#8217;s a couple of <a title="Jason DAquino-Plumbing-JasonDAquino.com" href="http://www.jasondaquino.com/home.html">disturbingly cool</a>, tiny images of <a title="Lucy and Peppermint Patty get Graphite Face - JasonDAquino.com" href="http://www.jasondaquino.com/home.html">some of the Peanuts</a> in <em>&#8220;Plumbing&#8221;</em>. Excellent.</p>
<p><img class="alignnone size-full wp-image-1374" title="jason-daquino-bukowski-spoon" src="http://www.cherrybombed.com/wp-content/uploads/2008/06/jason-daquino-spoon.jpg" alt="" width="134" height="500" /><br />
<em>Jason D&#8217;Aquino, Dr. Gonzo, Graphite on Vintage Good Humor Spoon.</em></p>
<p>But let&#8217;s get back to <strong>Dr. Thompson</strong>. Generally, as a miniature artist, <strong>D&#8217;Aquino&#8217;s</strong> scale is, well, small. Take the image of <a title="Gonzo links at Cherrybombed.com" href="http://www.cherrybombed.com/category/gonzo/" target="_self">HST</a> <em>(above)</em> on the vintage Good Humor spoon. In <strong>April</strong>, some stupid motherfucker stole <strong>D&#8217;Aquino&#8217;s</strong> original <strong>1&#215;3</strong> piece, <em><a title="FIND Lil' Scratch! Jason D'Aquino.com" href="http://www.jasondaquino.com/home.html">&#8220;Lil&#8217; Scratch&#8221;</a></em> <em>(done on a vintage matchbook)</em> from Carnivora Art Gallery. Now that&#8217;s poor. Hopefully, as D&#8217;Aquino&#8217;s artwork is very recognizable, ultimately, someone will turn that douche in. Keep your classy eyes peeled.</p>
<p><a href="http://www.cherrybombed.com/wp-content/uploads/2008/06/jason-daquino-bukowski-spoon.jpg"><img class="alignnone size-full wp-image-1375" title="jason-daquino-bukowski-spoon" src="http://www.cherrybombed.com/wp-content/uploads/2008/06/jason-daquino-bukowski-spoon.jpg" alt="" width="160" height="500" /></a><br />
<em> Jason D&#8217;Aquino, Bukowski Good Humor Spoon.</em></p>
<p>Now, I had to run the <strong>Bukowski</strong> Good Humor Spoon as I&#8217;m reading <a title="Bukowski - Last night of the Earth Poems - Amazon.com" href="http://www.amazon.com/Last-Night-Earth-Poems/dp/0876858639"><em>&#8220;Last Night of the Earth Poems&#8221;</em></a>. Okay, I&#8217;m always reading that book, but that&#8217;s besides the point. While I&#8217;m on <strong>Bukowski</strong>, here&#8217;s a great list of Bukowski&#8217;s <a title="Top Ten Greatest Bukowski Quotes - Alternative Reel" href="http://www.alternativereel.com/includes/top-ten/display_review.php?id=00090">Top Ten Greatest Quotes</a> according to <a title="Alternative Reel.com" href="http://www.alternativereel.com/">Alternative Reel</a>. But I digress away from Mr. D&#8217;Aquino&#8217;s <em>ultra-cool </em>matchbooks. Let&#8217;s get back to that.</p>
<p><img class="alignnone size-full wp-image-1376" title="jason-daquino-pin-up-girlie-matchbook1" src="http://www.cherrybombed.com/wp-content/uploads/2008/06/jason-daquino-pin-up-girlie-matchbook1.jpg" alt="" width="223" height="500" /><br />
<em>Jason D&#8217;Aquino, Pinup 2.</em></p>
<p>Now she is ultra-cool. Look at her. Ain&#8217;t she tiny, expertly drawn, and all pretty? Anyways, <strong>D&#8217;Aquino</strong> also owns <a title="Blue Moon Tattoo - Buffalo New York - Myspace" href="http://profile.myspace.com/index.cfm?fuseaction=user.viewprofile&amp;friendid=102966892">Blue Moon Tattoo</a> in <strong>Buffalo, New York</strong>. It&#8217;s only natural that someone with a hand like <strong>D&#8217;Aquino</strong> should apply his exquisite skills to skin. Some of <strong>D&#8217;Aquino&#8217;s </strong>artwork has appeared in Seattle&#8217;s only newspaper, <a title="The Stranger - Seattle" href="http://www.thestranger.com/seattle/Home">The Stranger</a>. D&#8217;Aquino&#8217;s latest work are <a title="Jason DAquino - Graphite on Vintage Vargas - Jason DAquino.com" href="http://www.jasondaquino.com/home.html"> incredible tattoo-inspired Graphites</a> on a vintage <a title="Vargas Pin-Up Gallery" href="http://www.thepinupfiles.com/vargas1.html">Vargas</a> calendar.</p>
<p>You can check out much more of <strong>D&#8217;Aquino&#8217;s</strong> on his excellent <a title="Jason DAquino.com" href="http://www.jasondaquino.com/home.html">new site</a>.</p>

<em>Cherry Comics #15 by Larry Welz<br />

Cherrybomb has always loved comics. Did you know Cherry&#8217;s (<em>formerly Cherry Pop Tart above</em>) favorite rock star is <a title="Cherry Loves Steven Tyler - Cherry Comics by Larry Welz " href="http://www.cherrycomics.com/CHRY_html/AEROSMITH.html">Steven Tyler</a>? Makes sense, right? While Tyler should be everyone&#8217;s favorite rock idol, Cherrybomb is unashamed of her Tyler adoration. Anyways, let&#8217;s get back to the point. The <strong>Emerald City Comicon</strong> is back in Seattle again on Saturday, <strong>May 10th</strong>, and Sunday, <strong>May 11th</strong>. <a title="Suicide Girls" href="http://suicidegirls.com/girls/featured/page8/">Suicide Girls</a> will also be there this year. <strong>Suicide Girls</strong> have names like <a title="Binxx Likes Butt Sex - Suicide Girls.com" href="http://suicidegirls.com/girls/Binx/">Binx</a> and <a title="NSFW - With a name like Vice what did you expect? " href="http://suicidegirls.com/girls/Vice/">Vice</a> . Some of the Suicide Girls say they are artists or writers by trade. Others confess to being professional full time cunts. Call FTD and tell Mommy you fell down the stairs. Besides, The Funhouse&#8217;s Bloody mix makes a sweet, sweet hangover recovery called <strong>Red Beer</strong>. I&#8217;d rather drink from the dirty, plastic shrine of <a title="Pepe Lopez is NOT BOOZE - Pepe Lopez.com" href="http://www.pepelopez.com/">Pepe Lopez</a> than do that. Whatever you do, if Pepe asks you to come on in and introduce yourself, just say something like &#8220;<em>Dios Mio, <a title="La Migra SUCK - Urban Dictionary" href="http://www.urbandictionary.com/define.php?i=1&amp;term=la+migra">La Migra</a>,&#8221;</em> really loud. It&#8217;s common knowledge that great voices only get better with age, and Murphy&#8217;s stand-alone vocals are no exception to this rule. Cherrybomb fully expects at least a <strong>10</strong> minute version of <strong>Dark Entries</strong> and a <strong>30</strong> minute version of <strong>Bella Legosi&#8217;s Dead</strong>. Murphy will also perform highlights from his dense solo career. Some of the highlights of Murphy&#8217;s goth idol, solo sojourn can be found on the 2000 comp, <em><a title="Wild Birds - Peter Murphy 1985-1995 - Amazon.com" href="http://www.amazon.com/Wild-Birds-1985-1995-Beggars-Banquet/dp/B00004KD3M">Wild Birds</a></em> .</p>

<em>Mike Ness makes Cherrybomb feel all tingly&#8230;</em></p>
<p>I&#8217;m pretty sure <a title="Mike Ness Gives Cherrybomb a Rock and Roll Heart Attack - Official Mike Ness Site" href="http://www.mikeness.com/"><strong>Mike Ness</strong></a> is trying to give Cherrybomb a heart attack. If my calculations are correct, <strong>Ness</strong> just celebrated his <strong>46th</strong> birthday last month. How can one man look <em>and</em> sound so good? <em><strong>It just ain&#8217;t right</strong>.</em> Anyways, <strong>Mike Ness</strong>, his excellent hair, and his BAND will be at The Showbox on <strong>Wednesday, July 9th</strong> (<em>all ages</em>) and <strong>Thursday, July 10th</strong> (<em>21+</em>). Ness and his Band will also visit <a title="Mike Ness and his Band at The Fillmore NY - The Fillmore NY" href="http://www.irvingplaza.com/calendar.htm">New York</a>, <a title="Mike Ness at Park West - Chicago - Park West.com" href="http://www.jamusa.com/Venues/ParkWest/Concerts.aspx">Chicago</a> and <a title="The Crystal Ballroom - Oregon" href="http://www.mcmenamins.com/index.php?loc=2&amp;category=Location%20Homepage">The Crystal Ballroom</a> in Oregon during June and July.</p>
<p><img class="alignnone size-full wp-image-1183" title="nick-cave-tour-diary" src="http://www.cherrybombed.com/wp-content/uploads/2008/05/nick-cave-tour-diary.jpg" alt="" width="480" height="342" /></p>
<p><em>Nick Cave. Life on the road looks like fun&#8230;</em></p>
<p>Lastly, if you haven&#8217;t heard already, <a title="Nick Cave Live at the Academy Glasgow - Review from UK Times" href="http://entertainment.timesonline.co.uk/tol/arts_and_entertainment/music/live_reviews/article3875508.ece">Nick Cave and The Bad Seeds</a> will be in Seattle at the <strong>Box </strong>on <strong>Tuesday, September 23rd</strong>. Rumor has it that a second show will also be added for <strong>Wednesday, September 24th.</strong> I don&#8217;t mind saying that I am the proud owner of one rather expensive &#8211; but worth every penny &#8211; ticket to the September 23rd show. Cave&#8217;s new record, <a title="Nick Cave and the Bad Seeds - Dig, Lazarus, DIG!!! - Amazon.com" href="http://www.amazon.com/Dig-Lazarus/dp/B0016O6ZHQ/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&amp;s=dmusic&amp;qid=1210120976&amp;sr=1-1"><strong>Dig, Lazarus, DIG!!! </strong></a>is being called one of the best of a young 2008. And Cherrybomb agrees.</p>
<p>Now <strong><em>Get The Fuck Out </em></strong>already&#8230;</p>
<p>Thanks to the <strong>RDK</strong> and <strong>LP</strong> for making GTFO happen this week&#8230;</p>

<em>Steve Perry. OG Journey vocalist. Not Filipino. </em></p>
<p>So, you might have heard the story about Journey&#8217;s sort of new Filipino vocalist, <a title="Arnel Pineda Perry - Wiki because I really don't care.." href="http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Arnel_Pineda">Arnel Pineda</a>. No? Yeah, I guess I&#8217;ve also been mostly ignoring <a title="Journey - Official Site" href="http://www.journeymusic.com/news.html">Journey</a> since <strong>1987</strong>. And while Cherrybomb&#8217;s ability to ignore Journey for almost <strong>20</strong> years isn&#8217;t that remarkable, the story of how Arnel Pineda became Journey&#8217;s vocalist is. Okay, that story is actually pretty boring too.</p>
<p>Journey guitarist <a title="Neil Schon - Official Site" href="http://www.schonmusic.com/">Neil Schon</a> found Pineda on Youtube. Performing Journey covers with his band <a title="The Zoo - Arnel and his version of Journey - Wiki" href="http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Zoology_%28album%29">The Zoo</a>. Sigh&#8230;</p>
<p><img src="http://cherrybombed.com/wp-content/uploads/2008/04/arnel-pineda-sings-journey.jpg" alt="arnel-pineda-sings-journey.jpg" width="368" height="480" /><br />
<em>Arnel Pineda. Discovered on Youtube. Not American Idol&#8230;? </em></p>
<p>Is it just Cherrybomb&#8217;s obsession with one of the greatest bands of the 80&#8217;s, or does <a title="Steve Perry Online - The RETIRED Perry talks to his fans and hugs his cat...sweet..." href="http://steveperryonline.net/">Steve Perry</a> not understand his importance in the world of rock and roll? I&#8217;m completely fucking baffled by Perry&#8217;s ability to resist his own greatness. I also miss his tight jeans and long <strong>80&#8217;s hair, </strong>but that&#8217;s besides the point. In the world of vocalists that glom off of each other, Perry stands alone, inimitable, like <a title="Boston - BOSTON RULES - Brad Delph - Official Boston Site " href="http://www.bandboston.com/">Brad Delph</a> and <strong>Freddie Mercury</strong>. Case and Perry point is <a title="Journey - Infinity - 1978 - Amazon.com" href="http://www.amazon.com/Infinity-Journey/dp/B000002BN1">Infinity</a> from <strong>1978</strong>, Perry&#8217;s first record with Journey. Infinity showcases Perry&#8217;s pristine vocals and the record officially put Journey on the road to multi-platinum success.</p>
<p><img src="http://cherrybombed.com/wp-content/uploads/2008/04/steve-perry-oh-cherie-indeed.jpg" alt="steve-perry-oh-cherie-indeed.jpg" width="324" height="500" /><br />
<em>Steve Perry. Can Cherrybomb pretend to be <a title="Oh Sherrie - Oh Steve Perry - Youtube" href="http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=__eI4u_tQD8">Oh, Sherrie</a>&#8230;?</em></p>
<p>And, while I was secretly hoping Pineda was a cheap rip off of Steve Perry (<em>who turned 51 in January</em>), he&#8217;s got Perry&#8217;s soaring, pretty pitch pretty down. Like in <a title="Arnel and The Zoo do Faithfully - Youtube" href="http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=6HjcCzgCCX0">this clip</a> from <strong>2006</strong> that features the <strong>40</strong> year old Pinela and his band <a title="Pinela and The Zoo Perform Journey Faithfully - Youtube" href="http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=6HjcCzgCCX0&amp;feature=related">The Zoo, performing &#8220;Faithfully.&#8221;</a> The first note out of his mouth is all Perry. And while that&#8217;s all good, one indisputable fact remains: a Perry-less Journey is like a good looking chick with a dick. They might look good and sound good, but the happy ending is all wrong.</p>
<p><img src="http://cherrybombed.com/wp-content/uploads/2008/04/cheap-trick-long-hair.jpg" alt="cheap-trick-long-hair.jpg" width="410" height="343" /><br />
<em>Robin Zander with Cheap Trick and his pretty Steve Perry hair&#8230;</em></p>
<p>Anyways, the Perry-less <a title="Journey, Cheap Trick and Heart Summer 2008 Tour - NME.com" href="http://www.nme.com/news/various-artists/35689">Journey, Heart and Cheap F*&amp;$!g Trick hit the road for a herculan size summer tour</a> starting on <strong>July 9th</strong>. The tour hits pretty much every <strong>80&#8217;s</strong> nook and cranny that big hair can hide in. Including <em>Seattle,</em> on <strong>September 19th </strong>at White River. Not to be outdone, a Delph-less <a title="Boston the Band - Official Site" href="http://www.bandboston.com/">Boston</a> hits the road with former<a title="Stryper Michael Sweet - Offical Christ Site" href="http://www.michaelsweet.com/"> Stryper vocalist Michael Sweet</a> on <strong>June 6th</strong>.</p>
<p>Take that <a title="Douche, Drunk and Drive - Nickelback Sucks..." href="http://www.cbc.ca/canada/british-columbia/story/2008/04/01/bc-nickelback-impaired-conviction.html?ref=rss">Nickelback</a>&#8230;</p>

Wendy is taped and ready for the weekend&#8230;are you? </em></p>
<p>&#8230;is the day we should all start drinking heavily, straight through <span style="font-style: italic; font-weight: bold">&#8217;til November</span>. And mostly, you should go somewhere other than your couch to do it. Unless that couch is getting you laid. If that is in fact the case, carry the fuck on. All curse words aside, I&#8217;m completely confused about how to misuse my vote. I filled out my absentee ballot and then ripped it up. Anyways, lets get back to talking about what&#8217;s really important. Rock and Roll, baby&#8230;and we&#8217;re off:</p>
<p><strong>Thursday, February 7th:</strong></p>
<p><img src="http://cherrybombed.com/wp-content/uploads/2008/02/ms-led-knows-the-deal.jpg" alt="ms-led-knows-the-deal.jpg" /><br />
<em>Ms. Led has got the right idea&#8230; </em></p>

<strong><a title="Lesli Wood - Ms. Led - Official Site" href="http://www.lesliwood.com/">Ms. Led</a></strong> tells it like it is. Their music is angry and urgent with lyrics that will shake you awake. If they don&#8217;t, then you, sir, are dead.</p>
<p><a title="Club Fuel - Pioneer Square" href="http://www.fuelseattle.com/home.htm"><span style="font-weight: bold">Hobo Libido</span><br />
<strong>Club Fuel</strong></a><br />
<span style="font-weight: bold">HL</span> has a new track up on their <strong><a title="Hobo Libido - Seattle" href="http://www.myspace.com/hobolibido">Myspace</a></strong> site called &#8220;<strong><em>Love Cow</em></strong>&#8220;. Ding dang it&#8217;s pretty sweet. And it has cowbell in it, just as a song called <em><strong>Love Cow</strong></em> should. The beginning of the song made me think of both <strong>Thin Lizzy</strong> and <strong>Mountain</strong> at the same time. Which under normal circumstances, would have made that <span style="font-weight: bold">70&#8217;s</span> side of my brain explode. Fortunately, normal circumstances and Cherrybomb rarely intersect on the road of rock and roll. <em>Phew</em>&#8230;</p>
<p><strong>Friday, February 8th</strong>:</p>

<strong>Tractor Tavern</strong><br />
<strong> Shim&#8217;s</strong> follow-up to the sweet release <strong>In the Veins</strong>, &#8220;<em><strong>Feel Like a King</strong></em>&#8221; is out tonight. The last time I saw <a title="Shim RULES - Seattle" href="http://www.shimrock.com/"><strong>Shim</strong></a>, I loved them as much as the first time I saw them. Bring earplugs and your love for dry ice.</p>

<p><strong><a title="Lesbian - Seattle" href="http://www.myspace.com/lesbianwitch">Lesbian</a></strong><br />
<strong> OvO </strong>(<em>Italy</em>)<br />
Vera Project<br />
<strong>Lesbian</strong> and <strong><a title="OvO - Italy" href="http://www.barlamuerte.com/bands/ovo/">OvO</a></strong> on a Saturday night? Okay, to be fair, <strong><a title="OVO - Anime Morte - Good freakin' god - Youtube" href="http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=RTvFd50UNzc&amp;feature=related">OvO is from Italy</a></strong> and sounds like something from a <strong><a title="Dario Argento - King of Italian Horror" href="http://www.houseofhorrors.com/argento.htm">Dario Argento</a></strong> movie, so maybe you never heard of &#8216;em. I&#8217;ll let you slide this one time, but next time, man&#8230;knuckle <strong>Lesbian</strong> sandwich for you.</p>
<p><em><strong>Looking Ahead&#8230;: </strong></em></p>
<p><strong><a title="Rufus Wainwright - Sweet Home Chicago" href="http://www.rufuswainwright.com/">Rufus Wainwright</a></strong> will be at The Paramount on <strong>March 13th</strong>. I&#8217;m ashamed to say I was only slightly aware of Rufus until recently. If you are Rufus ignorant like Cherrybomb see the <strong><a title="Leonard Cohen - I'm Your Man" href="http://www.leonardcohenimyourman.com/">Leonard Cohen doc, &#8220;I&#8217;m Your Man&#8221;</a></strong>. The doc&#8217;s approach is a little unconventional but the performances (that include the likes of <strong>Nick Cave</strong> and <strong>Beth Orton</strong>) are completely stellar. Wainwright&#8217;s version of <a title="Rufus Wainwright - Hallelujah" href="http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=mmbQEQltOwM"><strong>Cohen&#8217;s &#8220;Hallelujah&#8221;</strong></a> will make you a fan if you aren&#8217;t one already.</p>

<em>Jamie Nova of Hell&#8217;s Belles and Witchburn </em></p>
<p><strong><a title="Ministry - Official Site" href="http://www.ministrymusic.org/">Ministry</a></strong> is at <strong>The Showbox </strong>on <strong>March 29th</strong>. I lost my shoes at a Ministry show once. I never liked those shoes anyway but I still love <strong>Ministry</strong>. I like my rock hard and fast or I want no rock at <strong>ALL</strong>. <strong><a title="Hell's Belles - All Girl AC/DC Tribute - Seattle" href="http://www.hellsbelles.info/shows.htm">Hell&#8217;s Belles</a></strong> has two shows on <strong>February 23rd</strong> at <strong>Hell&#8217;s Kitchen </strong>in Tacoma. All ages at 3:00 (!) and 21+ at 9:00. Vocalist <strong>Jamie Nova&#8217;s </strong>other band, <strong><a title="Witchburn - Seattle" href="http://www.myspace.com/witchburn">Witchburn</a></strong> (<em>who are so excellent</em>) will be at <strong>El Corazon</strong> on Wednesday, <strong>February 13th</strong>.</p>
<p style="font-style: italic">See you out there&#8230;</p>
