Pure Evil is a London based street artist, probably best known for his evil bunny graffiti seen around San Fransisco and London. When it comes to his paintings, instead of signing his artwork, Evil uses his own scarred fingerprint to authenticate his paintings.

Brian May of Queen auctioned off two hours of personal guitar instruction to the tune of $11,000. The private lesson, to take place at May’s London home, will benefit Action for Brazil’s Children. The recent push for ABC raised over $30,000 for the charity. ABC is also auctioning off a dozen custom guitars, designed by notable painters and graffiti artist from Brazilian and London. Check out this Gibson hand-painted by London artist Pure Evil. Flip the Gibby around to see Evil’s reproduction of his 2007 painting, Sergeant Peppers Lonely Hearts Bastards.

Hunter S. Thompson’s widow, 36 year old, Anita Thompson has gave us all reason to pause with the following statement:

Hunter was such a loving person that it would have been a joy to have a family with him,” she says, and then adds, almost casually: “But I could still have his child if I want to.

Hunter S. Thompson has a 44 year old son, Juan from a previous marriage. Anita Thompson’s surprising statements were made on the heels of winning the grand prize in the London Book Festival this year. Her book, The Gonzo Way, delves into what inspired her late husbands mad, yet masterful journalistic tendencies.

…and since I’ve been jawing a lot about Hunter this week, I thought I would post a few of the better Hunter S. tattoos that also pay homage to one of Thompson’s confidants. Ink-and-splatter master, Ralph Steadman. The one of Hunter (above) is one of the coolest, interpretive ink jobs I’ve ever seen.

As usual, I’m gonna be completely honest with you. This weekend here in Seattle will go down as one of the greatest in the history of Seattle Music. This weekend, it’s all about Sub Pop. This weekend, it’s all about the secret gigs happening around town (like the Green River gig that isn’t at Marymoore) and the not-so-secret Gutter Twins show at The SoDo Box with Tad Doyle’s new band, Brothers of the Sonic Cloth. All this, in honor of a record label that continues to hold a spell over so many of us. Especially here in the Pacific NW.

What I do know is this, there has never been a better weekend to Get The Fuck Out. It’s gonna be just like the old days. Which is pretty much what it’s like here in Seattle now: completely fucking awesome.

Gogol Bordello is coming back to what is getting to be their second home, Seattle, on October 9th at The Box in SoDo. Cherrybomb will be taking in GB while hitting the beach back east in August at a little place called Club Casino in New Hampshire. Club Casino is a great little room that Cherrybomb is verrry well acquainted with. I’ve been thrown out of Club Casino numerous times, most notiibly during a Flock of Seagulls show (I should really thank the members of the New Hampshire Law Enforcement Agency for that one), I’ve pre-funked with Peter Frampton (when he still had hair) there, and was front and center for a Winger gig back when they might have been cool for, like, a second. I was so close to the stage, that some chick grabbed a guitar pick out of my hair that Kip threw at me during the show.

I hope that bitch choked on that pick.

But I digress, lets get back to the point of this post. Getting the fuck out.

Alex Pardee, Flesh Wounds for Toons… 1

Alex Pardee, Escaped Conviction, from Scratches and Abrasions.

Much like the late, great Ralph Steadman, California artist Alex Pardee is nothing but full-tilt when it comes to his craft. Pardee’s newest show, “Scratches and Abrasions” opens at the SURU Gallery in Los Angeles on July 12th.

In addition to the opening of Scratches, Pardee is getting ready to release his first movie, Chadam. A CGI/3-D cartoon based on Pardee’s own creep-tastic character, Chadam.

And since opening a major show and making a movie still left Pardee with some openings in his schedule, he decided to design some ill skins for your your Guitar Hero guitar. In whatever spare time he has left (Pardee admits he doesn’t sleep much) he likes to creates artwork for bands like Seattle’s own Aiden and the Swedish Metal band, IN FLAMES. Did I mention Pardee also has his own line of evil toys and shirts?

And even though Pardee has stated that there are no hidden political statements in his art, he said he “jumped at the chance” to create this Obama Poster (above) to support the Senator’s political campaign. All proceeds from the sale of this limited-edition poster go to support other artists that are creating other works, like t-shirts and buttons, in support of Obama’s presidential run.

Genitortures will celebrate HalloQueen in Seattle this year…

Finally, Genitortures will be at Studio 7 on October 31, bringing some competition for what is undoubtly the only live gig in this town on Halloween, The Sonics. Genitorturers (you have no idea how hard it is to type Genitortures when you’re drunk) have a new record coming out this Fall.

Jason D’Aquino is a Miniaturist out of Brooklyn. Among his Mother, D’Aquino credits Maurice Sendak as a source of inspiration for his art. D’Aquino uses vintage matchbooks or in the case of D’Aquino’s series, Plumbing”, paper from a vintage Plumbing catalog to create his miniature art. There’s a couple of disturbingly cool, tiny images of some of the Peanuts in “Plumbing”. Excellent.

But let’s get back to Dr. Thompson. Generally, as a miniature artist, D’Aquino’s scale is, well, small. Take the image of HST (above) on the vintage Good Humor spoon. In April, some stupid motherfucker stole D’Aquino’s original 1×3 piece, “Lil’ Scratch” (done on a vintage matchbook) from Carnivora Art Gallery. Now that’s poor. Hopefully, as D’Aquino’s artwork is very recognizable, ultimately, someone will turn that douche in. Keep your classy eyes peeled.

Now, I had to run the Bukowski Good Humor Spoon as I’m reading “Last Night of the Earth Poems”. Okay, I’m always reading that book, but that’s besides the point. While I’m on Bukowski, here’s a great list of Bukowski’s Top Ten Greatest Quotes according to Alternative Reel. But I digress away from Mr. D’Aquino’s ultra-cool matchbooks. Let’s get back to that.

Now she is ultra-cool. Look at her. Ain’t she tiny, expertly drawn, and all pretty? Anyways, D’Aquino also owns Blue Moon Tattoo in Buffalo, New York. It’s only natural that someone with a hand like D’Aquino should apply his exquisite skills to skin. Some of D’Aquino’s artwork has appeared in Seattle’s only newspaper, The Stranger. D’Aquino’s latest work are incredible tattoo-inspired Graphites on a vintage Vargas calendar.

Damn You, Tom Waits… 1

Tom Waits. Never lowdown on a Saturday Night…

…but only because Seattle is is not included in your Summer plans. Tom Waits, the man with a heart as big as Saturday Night, will kick off his Glitter and Doom tour on Monday, June 16th, in Phoenix. The tour includes dates in Europe and the U.S. Lucky you for once, if you live in Phoenix, where Waits will play the only two-night stint of his summer outing in the US. Stops in Europe include Spain, Milan and the RatCellar in Dublin, Ireland. Although this time, unless you already have your Dublin tickets, your Irish luck just ran out. All three shows sold out in less than an hour as of May 27th.

The special word for the tour is, PEHDTSCKJMBA. You might find it in the night sky and maybe score tickets somehow. If you’re really lazy, just watch this Youtube vid to see the real-gone, mad madness that is Tom Waits.
