Lemmy Talks Politics, Explains Why The Internet Will Eventually Kill Us And, Why Robots Might Be Stealing Your Luggage… 0

Posted on March 15, 2010 by DJC

Lemmy Kilmister. Always trust a man with a beer held upright.

Lemmy Kilmister sat down with Crypt Magazine recently and gave a lenthgy interview with topic ranging from President Obama, Sarah Palin and why the Internet will be the “death of humanity”. Here are a couple of highlights:

Lemmy on Politics:

I think Obama is in a very difficult place. Because he’s getting stooped every fucking time he turns around, right? Because you kept Republicans in the government; that was a mistake obviously. He should have had Dick Cheney as his running mate; I’m sure that would have been more popular than Joe Biden. Sarah Palin, she’s the one that impresses me. Jesus Christ, cookoo. What’s the point of even talking to the woman, she’s like nuts. The fucking woman’s a flake.

Lemmy on why the Internet is going to fucking kill us:

They’re gonna be the death of humanity, believe me. The internet is gonna kill humanity because we can’t use it, we don’t know how to use it. I mean the greatest communication system ever known to man has been invented. What do you use it for? Child pornography. Isn’t it fucking wonderful? They always go for the lowest common denominator and then spin it around. There are all kinds of fucking nut cases out there. And everybody can be equally heard which is not a good idea. Because some people, if they get heard all across the world, and it’s gonna fucking really twist everything up. One in five people aren’t fit to shine your fucking shoes.

Lemmy on Robots and what keeps him going with Motörhead 36 years later:

I believe robots are stealing our luggage. I dunno, everybody’s driven by something, survival mostly. It’s just I love what I do. It’s a great gig. So, why not do it?

Satchel at The Crocodile Cafe… 0

Satchel at The Crocodile Cafe in Seattle, February 18th, 2010.  Photo by Cherrybomb’s iPhone.

Satchel’s show last night at The Croc was a sold-out sonic trip back to 1996 complete with dry-ice and some solo action from the one and only Shawn Smith. The band was so tight, it’s hard to believe that it’s been 13 years since they collectively shared a stage together. Unquestionably, a bit of Seattle’s rich musical history was reborn last night.

Extra Cherrybomb points to the show openers, Stuck on a Bus. The band is led by the 12 YEAR OLD daughter of Satchel timekeeper Regan Hagar and also included students at the Seattle School of Rock. The pint-sized rockers blazed through a set of rock and metal anthems including a show-stopping version of War Pigs. Stay in school kids. Rock School that is.

Special thanks to JB and AFJ for the pre-Satchel tequila party!

Steven Tyler Confirms He Will Front Aerosmith at Download Festival in June… 0

Posted on February 16, 2010 by DJC

Aerosmith1974
Aerosmith circa 1974. Yes, please.

In keeping with the consensus that there is not such thing as Aerosmith without Steven Tyler, the band is scheduled to appear at the massive Download Festival in the UK in June under one condition, that Steven Tyler and only Steven Tyler appear with the band. Tyler, who despite making appearances at and Karaoke bars and Home Depot, is still in rehab, released this statement confirming that he will perform with Aerosmith at Download:

In the early days of Aerosmith, we were infected with the vibe coming out of the U.K. with the Yardbirds, Blues Breakers, Pretty Things and the Rolling Stones, and we wanted what they had bad. So baby, we’re coming home. Rock and roll can be pure sex and we can’t wait to Download …

The Download Festival kicks off on June 11th at Donington Park. Take that Joe Perry.

Honcho? Check. Matching hat? Check. Axl Rose hitting the stage three hours late in New York? Yeah, that sound about right…

Mickey Rourke was in the crowd when Axl Rose and Guns ‘N’ Roses finally hit the stage at 1:30 am, three hours later than expected. The show went down at The Rose Bar in the Gramercy Hotel in New York on Sunday. Adding to the drama is a report that former Skid Row vocalist turned Celebrity Fit Club contestant subdued a drunk who flashed a knife inside the show. According to a witness Bach said, ‘Nobody is getting anywhere near my man Axl Rose with a knife’, and went after him. Security quickly ejected the man from the show without incident.

Anyway, here’s set-list from the Valentine’s Day show:

You’re Crazy
Mr. Brownstone
Used to Love Her
Welcome to the Jungle
Street of Dreams
Sorry
It’s So Easy
Patience
Rocket Queen
Catcher in the Rye
My Michelle
Knockin’ on Heaven’s Door
Whole Lotta Rosie
Sweet Child o’ Mine
Nightrain
Paradise City

AC/DC Lane To Celebrate Bands History With Five Day Party and Memorabilia Show… 0

BonScottWritingALetter
Dear Irene…For LP.

Letters to Bon Scott’s wife Irene Thornton and other AC/DC Melbourne-esque memorabilia will be on display starting Thursday along AC/DC Lane in Melbourne, AU.

James Young (no relation), the owner of Cherry Bar (!) said that they plan to bring AC/DC “to life through AC/DC-inspired art and music”. Young purchased the letters and some photos at an art auction in 2006. Here’s an passage from one of the letters Scott penned to Thornton from the road during his all too short, long way to the top:

I just wanna get a lot of money soon so I can change a few things about myself. More booze and dope. Not really. I just wanna be famous, I guess. Just so when people talk about ya, it’s good things they say. That’s all I want.

AC/DC will kick off the one time only celebration on Thursday night with a three-night stint at Etihad Stadium.

For more info visit Cherry Bar.
