Folk Singer Writes Sad Song About Dave Mustaine – Hilarity Ensues

Folk musician Robert Rolf Fedderson apparently penned this three-minute depression fest, “Dave’s Lament” (off Fedderson’s aptly titled new record, American Loser) from the imagined perspective of Dave Mustaine. Apparently, Fedderson got to know Mustaine when his then band, Loudmouth, toured with Megadeth back in the late 90’s. Fedderson wrote the song, which tells the story of one of messiest heavy metal partings in history, and how it might have made Dave feel. And, as you might well imagine, it’s fucking hilarious. I give you exhibit A – a few lines from Dave’s Lament…

“I’m a good writer / I play great guitar / But I can’t get over how farther they’ve gone / I’m staying sober / And trying real hard / But I can’t jump over this fence in my yard”

Oh boy. I never thought I’d say this, but even Dave Mustaine doesn’t deserve this. And the chorus isn’t helping Mustaine’s head banging street cred either…

“All of the success goes to Metallica / All of the accolades go to Metallica / All of the mansions and all of the money / And all of the good things and skies that are sunny”

So there you have it. If you need a few laughs today, listen to Dave’s Lament right here. Besides, we all know the real reason Dave got kicked out of Metallica…
