Rainbow, Long Live Rock ‘n’ Roll picture disc. 12″ reissue of the 1977 classic.

Record Store Day has finally published it’s official list of 2012 releases! So, in addition to my devil-horns-out suggestion that you pick up the picture disc reissue of Rainbow’s 1977 record, Long Live Rock ‘n’ Roll (above), I’m following up my earlier post on RCD 2012 with few additional recommendations of how to spend your hard earned vinyl dollars. Bonus? There’s more Bowie!

  • Rockabye Baby: Lullaby Renditions of The SmithsExclusive to record store day, purveyors of rock ‘n’ roll lullaby’s, Rockabye Baby, are releasing their kid-sized versions of classic Smiths’ tracks like “Girlfriend in a Coma” and “Bigmouth Strikes Again”, on white vinyl.
  • Dinosaur Jr.: The Electronic Anthology of Dinosaur Jr. – Nine classic Dinosaur Jr songs re-imagined,replayed, re-recorded by Brett Nelson (Built To Spill) and re-sung by J Mascis on 12″ purple vinyl.
  • David Bowie: Starman 7″ picture discThis amazing RCD release contains two versions of Bowie’s “Starman”. Side A is the original recording, and side B is a mono recording of Bowie’s performance of Starman from ‘Top Of The Pops’ in 1972.

  1. Superb images, the colour and depth of the images are breath-taking, they attract you in as though you are a component of the composition.|
