Charlotte Gainsbourg, Heaven Can Wait. From 2009’s IRM.
Man, this video for French actress/singer Charlotte Gainsbourg’s song, Heaven Can Wait, has everything! Knife fights, chicks with shotguns, giant nuts, Beck, a fat shirtless kid playing the guitar, a skateboard on cheeseburgers, a tub full of Fruit Loops (what a waste) and a random flying axe. What are you waiting for anyway? Press PLAY!
This painting of Elvis Presley by Andy Warhol recently sold to a Elvis fanatic for $100 million dollars. Ironically, Eight Elvises fetched approximately $57 million more dollars than Warhol’s200 One Dollar Bills did at an auction last month.
In other news, Andy Warhol died in 1987. True story.
Julien Temple has confirmed that he will direct a film about The Kinks with the tentative working title, “You Really Got Me”. Temple says the movie will focus on the tumultuous relationship of Ray and Dave Davies. To this day the brothers barely speak to each other. In 2008 when Ray spoke publicly about the possibility of a Kinks reunion, Dave responded via Rolling Stone saying that the Kinks getting back together would be like a “poor remake of ‘Night of the Living Dead”.
So far Ray Davies is said to be on board and working with Temple on the films historical details. No release date yet but, for something that’s bound to be great, I can wait. In other Kinks news (yes, there’s more), Ray Davies will release a Holiday duet with Chrissie Hynde called Postcards from London on Monday, December 7th.
Intro for Samurai Jack. Created by Genndy Tartakovsky
The film adaptation of Samurai Jack, one of my favorite animated series of all time, is coming to the big screen using a mix of 2D animation as well as stereoscopic 3D. The film has a big budget ($20 million!) and two big names associated with it’s production. J.J. Abrams(a self-confessed Samurai junkie) and Fred Siebert(who’s creative CV to extensive to list, but you can read about him here) will co-produce the flick and Jack’s creator, Genndy Tartakovsky, is set to write and direct the film. So far there’s no release date for Samurai Jack, so stay tooned…

I really can’t say enough good things about Mr. Mayhem and his one man band. The next time Matt brings his Night Hawk drum kit, hot dogs and guitar from Idaho, you go see him.
More Mattastic photos of Matt Mayhem courtesy of the very rockin’ Lori Penney after the jump… Read the rest of this entry →
Cherrybombed.com is about the music and culture of the Pacific Northwest, as well as other cool happenings around the world. We also shine a spotlight on celebrities behaving badly. Here, you will find videos, low-brow artwork and images, and tattoos only a mother could hate.
If boozing was an olympic event, we would be on a box of Wheaties. If this all sounds familiar to you (and your mother), welcome home.
