Public Enemy by Shepard Fairey. Fairey also designed the cover art for PE’s upcoming record.

Public Enemy has teamed up with Sell A Band and to help raise $250,000 to put out their new album. Here’s Chuck D himself on on why Public Enemy decided to let their fans help them make PE’s 13th record.

Anyone can get in on the action for only $25 bucks. Forever owning a piece of PE history? Priceless if you ask me…

10/23/09 Update: PE has just reached the $50,000 mark!

RealTouch
Really, Real Touch?

This is the Real Touch, a newish sex toy for men. It was designed and tested by a NASA engineer. Who presumably no longer works for NASA. Here’s part of the Real Touch’s press release:

The futuristic-looking computer peripheral simulates motion, adjusts temperature and provides lubrication. The encoding is deciphered by a custom Windows Media Player plugin.

Plugin indeed! More on The Real Touch (SITE NSFW!!!), here.

Worst Movie Trailer Ever, Best Sound Track Ever: Severed Ways… 0

Severed Ways movie trailer.

While this trailer for Severed Ways, a movie based on the Norse discovery of America just gave me a headache, the soundtrack to the flick completely kicks ass. Sadly, to listen to the soundtrack, with music by artists like Judas Priest, Queens of the Stone Age, Melissa Auf Der Maur and Brian Eno, you would have to watch the movie. Brutal.

Don’t judge! You’d be grouchy too if you were wearing tin-foil for hair and a dress that looks like an upside down tampon.

Davila 666 @ The Funhouse, October 18th, 2009… 0

I’m still grooving to the the sound of the impossibly hopped set from Davila 666 last night at The Funhouse. The show was everything you could hope for from a six-piece garage punk band from Puerto Rico. Lots of sweat, lots of guitars, big fast drums, plastic snakes and, a cavalcade of beer in a can getting spit, drunk or hurled in every direction.

I was lucky to chat with a couple of the super friendly Davila boys after the show. They talked about how much they dig playing Seattle (it’s their third trip through) and the bands upcoming Rolling Stones cover EP with Norton Records. I couldn’t resist asking AJ and Johnny Davila (bass/guitars) what Stones song they would most want to cover on the upcoming EP. After a brief and smoky moment of contemplation they both agreed it would have to be Jumpin’ Jack Flash.

The Funhouse lineup, Sunday, October 18th.

I arrived just in time to catch most of Seattle duo Ape City R&B’s auditory assault. I highly recommend you and your ear plugs check out Ape City’s gig with another of my favorite Seattle bands, TacocaT at the Black Lodge on November 29th. Also on the bill were Sonic Chicken 4, a five piece from Perpignan, France who delivered a surprisingly exciting set complete with a xylophone solo.

Thanks to LP, Surly and G for GTFO with me last night. Red Beer and punk rock always tastes better when you’re around. True story.
