The little girl in Joshua Hoffine’s Bed, is the scary snap-shooter’s daughter Shiva. Hoffine often uses his kids (he has four) and his friends as subjects in his photographs. Says Hoffine on the inspiration for Bed:
The idea of a monster hiding under your bed is perhaps the most emblematic of all childhood fears.
For the record, I’m still afraid of what’s under my bed. Which is why instead of stepping out of bed like you, I stand up and jump away from it when I get up in the morning. There is no such thing as being too cautious or paranoid.
