Joe Perry Wants To Revive His Nuts… 0

NightintheRuts
Night in the Ruts, 1979.

Okay. That first part just isn’t true. I’m sure Joe Perry’s nuts are fine. They might swing to the right a bit, but they are, just fine. What Perry really was trying to say before I typed those words in his mouth was that he’s getting behind an effort to play Aerosmith’s 1979 record, Night in the Ruts, all the way through. Live.

If you’re into the band, then you already know that Aerosmith plans to play their 1975 record, Toys in the Attic, in it’s entirety during their summer tour this year.

You know, I always take so much flack for loving Night in the Ruts. Not that I needed Joe Perry’s opinion to achieve vindication on that fact. I mean, with lyrics like these from the track Cheesecake , what’s not to love?:

Cheesecake, looser than her sister. Cheesecake, her sugar get me high. She knows I can’t resist her. Cheesecake. Got my fingers in her pie.

Anyway, Perry might have something here because there really aren’t a lot of lyrics to remember from this record. And he gets to erase any trace of guitarist Jimmy Crespo (currently a Vegas fixture) who replaced him part of the way through the recording of Nuts Ruts.

Geoff Tate, big stage approved.

Word has it that Geoff Tate is on board with a stage adaptation of Queensrÿche’s ‘88 record, Operation Mindcrime. The play version (note: site auto-plays audio “message” files in R column) of one of the greatest concept albums of all time, will include new music by the band as well as Tate.

Gene Simmons, Douchemaster… 0

GeneSimmonsDuckie
Gene Simmons in Graceland. Simmons was in Memphis to serve as the honorary douchemaster Duckmaster in the Memphis Duck Parade.

Wait, did I actually call Gene Simmons a douchemaster in the title of this post? Although I’m pretty sure I meant it, Simmons was actually Duckmaster in the Peabody Duck Parade in Memphis over the weekend. Anyway, it’s photo-ops like this that make me want to pee all over Gene Simmon’s face. Lucky for all of us , we now can.

Literary tattoo: FAIL.

Not surprisingly, this tattoo was not on the list of the Best Literary Tattoo’s. But props to Chuck Palahniuk for making this rather sad coveted “a tattoo really is forever” list. For more literary tattoos, visit Contrawise. It might give you some ideas for your next ink job.
