GTFO: Jim Beam Birthday Emergency… 0

Posted on October 03, 2008 by DJC

Wacky Birthday Collage temporarily replaces Wendy O in honor of JB’s birthday today…

Happy Birthday JB! Did you know your initials also stand for Jim Beam! It’s too perfect, just like you.

Now onto GTFO for this week. And please remember, now that it’s October, at all costs, refrain from referring to October as, Rocktober. Also, sorry for the lack of creative rock talk on this GTFO entry. I’m spent from the debate last night. I never should have chosen the word “Reform” as a Palin drinking queue. Holy Cabo Wabo! To make matters worse, The Mad Irish Man (who isn’t really angry, just mad. There’s a difference.) forwarded me this classic Palin quote from the PI on Wednesday:

I may be just a hockey mom whose kids flew thousands of miles at the expense of the taxpayers of Alaska, but I know airplanes.

Oh my aching head. Let’s Get The Fuck Out…

Friday, October 3rd:

Helloween, All My Lovin’.

Helloween
El Corazon
Halloween has come early to Seattle. I mean HalloQueen. I mean Helloween. Helloween does this crazy version of The Beatles “All My Lovin’”. I’m not saying that Helloween is gonna pull that one out of their spandex pant pockets, but you’ll never know if you miss this show. Ex-Helloween ax-slinger, Kal Hansen’s Gamma-Ray is also on this very fucking Metal bill.

I love the 80’s.

Age Against the Machine
TT The Bears (Cambridge, MA)
TT The Bears is one of the greatest clubs in Boston. Why? Because TT’s is in Cambridge, that’s why. Anyway, in case you are also suffering the ravages of too much tequila last night, Age Against the Machine is a Boston-based Rage Against the Machine tribute band.

Dry County Crooks celebrate Halloween everyday. I think…

Saturday, October 4th:

Thee Sgt Major III, Brothers of the Sonic Cloth, The Moondoggies
The Sunset
This is one hell of a Sub Pop bill.

Shim, North Twin
The Tractor

Rainbow with Joe Lynn Turner, Stone Cold, 1982. For WW.

Joe Lynn Turner
Dexter’s (Riverdale, NJ)
New Jersey native Joe Lynn Turner put out his 10th record in 2007 with the help of former Rainbow guitarist Ritchie Blackmore. You can catch Turner on Eddie Trunk’s syndicated radio show tonight. Turner and his current band mates, Carlos Cavazo of Quiet Riot and Simon Wright of AC/DC just finished a tour of Iraq on September 11th. Take that Nickelback…

Sunday, October 5th:

The Maldives.

The Maldives
The Sunset
One of my favorite Seattle bands at one of my favorite Seattle places.

The Village People, 1977.

The Village People
The Seneca Niagara Events Center at Seneca Niagara Casino (Niagara Falls, NY)
What is left of The Village People (surprisingly, the band still has three of it’s original members) will play a casino in Niagara Falls. This isn’t really a recommendation as much as it a an observation. A rather sad observation.

Looking Ahead:

Theses Arms are Snakes can FLY!

These Arms Are Snakes will play a free gig at the Queen Anne Easy Street on Monday, October 6th.

Now Get The Fuck Out…
