Sir Fartsalot Hunts the Booger. Because I Need a Laugh… 1

Sir Fartsalot Hunts the Booger. Animated by Aaron Blecha.

Man, the news today has just got me down. I figured one sure-fire way to turn my we’re all doomed mood around was to laugh. Besides, farts are funny. The vid above, animated by Aaron Blecha, is adapted from the book, Sir Fartsalot Hunts The Booger by Ontario based writer, Kevin Bolger. When he’s not writting books about boogers and farts, Bolger teaches reading and writting to those between the ages of two and six, in Ottawa. Which I’m sure comes as a surprise to nobody.

Dolly Parton, Shinola… 0

Dolly Parton, Shinola. From Backwoods Barbie.

Dang I love this song. The lyrics in Shinola cause me to fondly reminisce about an angry, late 1960’s Loretta Lynn. Although, I’m having a hard time not saying “You don’t know shit from Shinola” during Shinola’s chorus. I bet you will too.

You can find Shinola on Parton’s 42nd solo record, Backwoods Barbie.

Paul Insect’s Dead Rock Stars… 0

Paul Insect, Dead Jimi from Santa’s Ghetto, 2006.

Paul Insect is a London artist that has a thing for dust and bones. Skeletal images are featured prevalently in Insect’s graphic creations. Like this series of Bansky-esque baby heads that Insect painted outside around London.

Paul Insect, Dead Sid, from Santa’s Ghetto, 2006. For Tommy One Time.

Of course, it makes sense that Insect’s “Dead Sid” (above) would have a skeleton for a face. Insect has also done work for musicians that currently have a heartbeat. In 2006, Insect did the cover for DJ Shadow’s record, The Outsider.

Paul Insect, Dead Elvis, from Santa’s Ghetto, 2006. For Dr. H.

Insect will open his latest solo show, Poison, at London’s Lazarides Gallery on September 12th.
