The Hands CD Release Party…

If you read this blog you know that Cherrybomb gets out quite a lot. With that said, this show was one of the best shows I’ve seen in quite a while. The Hands are awesome. Truly, truly awesome. The material from the new self-titled “The Hands” sounded as good live as it does on my iPod. It is officially Cherrybomb’s favorite record so far this year. It doesn’t even start to slow down after the first six tracks. You can pick it up via a paypal link on the bands Myspace. Or, get yourself and your hands to the next Hands show and pick it up from the band directly. If you like Rock and Roll, you will like this record. If you love Rock and Roll like Cherrybomb, you will buy this record and sleep with it. You could also take one of The Hands home with you and sleep with them. I’m sure the band would appreciate your support either way.

Anyways, all three bands (The Whore Moans and The Earaches shared the bill) came out and strutted hard with their guitars. And for a change, the very large and early crowd really appreciated every band. Which isn’t always the case when you have three or five bands on the same bill. Of course, all three of the bands on this bill are completely excellent so my statement, while true, need not apply to this blog entry or last Friday night at Neumo’s.

If you were at this show, then you also got a taste of The Whore Hands. Okay, everyone knows you shouldn’t put Whore Hands in your mouth but you can definitely put The Whore Hands in your ears. The Whore Hands are TWM and The Hands turning out a bunch of super boss covers at the end of The Hands set. I’m telling you right now, seeing nine of Seattle’s most sweaty and talented musicians on stage spewing out a version of Sabbath’s War Pigs was my favorite moment of the night. Throw in a well worn Stones cover and a couple other vintage nuggets and everyone goes home drunk on rock and roll and happy. I highly recommend you catch the next appearance of The Whore Hands on April 26th at the Wildrose. The Hands and The Whore Moans will both showcase at SXSW next month.

The Earaches set was the best I’ve seen the band play since last summer. The boys have been giving great garage for ten years now but collectively, their rock and roll roots run much deeper. You got one last chance to catch The Earaches before they leave for a two week tour of the West Coast. The Earaches will play the The Sunset on March 7th with Holy Name Dropouts and Brandon Daniel & Everybody Gets Laid. If you’re doubling up in Vegas, check The Earaches out at Divebar in Vegas on March 15th. Then go play roulette and bet it all on black baby. Black is the color of rock and roll after all. And my black, black heart for that matter, but that’s besides the point.

The Whore Moans were at the top of their game on Friday. Cherrybomb has seen TWM many times and without a doubt, this was the best I’ve ever seen them. Their set was so hot I thought Ryan was going to burst into flames. But, lucky for Ryan and his sweet Genesis shirt, bursting into flames on stage is reserved for drummers.

Cherrybomb will be checking out The Gutter Twins show tomorrow, Tuesday, March 4th. If you can’t make it to the show, TGT will be live on KEXP at 1:00 pm PST tomorrow. If I’m lucky (and I verra often am) I might try get close enough to Greg Dulli to see if he really tastes like Dunhills and expensive Whiskey. Who am I kidding….that’s what I taste like. Besides, I never try anything…
I just do it.
